  • Lithuania has been a Member of the European Union since 2004.
  • The country wants entry into the euro zone in the near future (2015).
  • Lithuania has a strategic geographic location at the EU's borders and the gateway to Russia and Scandinavia.
  • The country is focused on the outside, especially in trade of consumer goods.
     

French-Lithuanian trade progresses. After the 2008/2009 crisis, exchanges again became dynamic in 2011. The French-Lithuanian bilateral trade grew by 10.5% in 2012 (1.72 billion Euros). In the first half of 2013, evolution was in favour of France, which saw its exports (253 million Euros) increase by 13% while imports decreased by -9%. This trend was confirmed throughout 2013: the trade deficit dropped to 240 million Euros.
